Faba Loba

Faba Loba is the next big thing from ART HURTS Records.  The project fuses Senegalese kora, raw electric funk, Cuban percussion, hip-hop beats, multilingual singing - basically everything wonderful in the musical world cooked up in one pot.  The band name is a sort of acronym:

FA for Amadou FAll, world-class kora player and musician whose deep knowledge of griot music gives a special Senegalese signature to the sound.

BA for Ibrahim BA, acclaimed Senegalese singer and songwriter whose voice ranges from sweet and high to wrathful and edgy, conjuring at once Youssou N'Dour and Bob Marley.

LO for Rafi Benjamin LOiederman, founder of LA's Raya Records whose beat slicing and sonic wizardry are rocking the dance floors of tomorrow.

BA for Beston BArnett, ART HURTS producer whose experience with Cuban, Brazilian, and African funk ties together the Faba Loba sound.

Listen for Faba Loba's CD Senegalesa towards the end of 2008.
