Beston: With this design, I was trying to capture a balance between cubism and cartoon, a balance which also exists in the music of the Zzymzzy Quartet (balancing, as it does, the sense of the avant-garde - though now antique - with a sense of mischief from the Prohibition Era). Thus the cartoonish arms and bright colors balance the off-kilter angles and chopped-up instruments.
