Magic Window

Beston: "Magic Window" represents a turning point in the CD covers for ART HURTS. Until 2004, all the covers had been large-scale paintings, and that was my original plan for this one. I had taken this photo through my bathroom window at dusk ; you can see the water droplets from the shower and the blurry shadow of a small tree outside. I tried over and over again to repeat the effect I saw there in an art project - with encaustic, with acrylic, even painting onto backlit glass - nothing seemed to work. Eventually I gave up and just used the photo itself. Since this cover, I've used some paintings in the CD art work, but it's no longer the rule.
